Mary with Christ child & two angels playing music, violin and lute. There are not a lot of paintings (and engravings) with music made by Anthony Van Dyck. Anthony Van Dyck (Antwerp 1599-London 1641) made the painting. Pieter de Ballieu ( 1616-1660) made the engraving ca 1637-1641. He was born in Antwerp where he learned the profession as engraver, Then he pefectioned his skills in Italy. In 1637 he came back to Antwerp where he made engravings after Pieter Paul Rubens and specially Anthony Van Dyck. Edited by Cornelis Danckertz ca 1637-1660. Hollstein Dutch 26-2(2) with the adress of Cornelis Danckertz. Large engraving, (43,6 cm x 31,2 cm),printed on good 17th century laid paper, cut on the margins, image is complete. Superb impression with lot of contrasts. In very good condition. One of the most beautiful engravings after the paintings of Anthony Van Dyck. Same edition as the one of the Rijksprentenkabinet in Amsterdam. Delivered in a musuem passepartout.
